Marbling and Batik on Fabric

1XJ5lfEZkMGjplVk5P8iCzAr4fmOk6XxANeCVSIFxpSHn-FIIndonesian Master Batik Artist Ferril Nawir and Fiber and Tapestry Artist Lynda Brothers will be teaching a workshop for beginners to intermediate silk painters, batik artists. quilters and wearable artists.

In this two day workshop we will work with the techniques of batik design and marbling on fabric in a totally unique and individually creative way. The artistic combination of the two methods adds depth, movement, and a textured look to any design, abstract or realistic, and can be applied to a variety of fabrics. The batik designs will involve Indonesian waxing and dying techniques on silk and cotton, which will be steamed to set the dyes. The marbling involves floating thin paints on a thickened water base which are then manipulated into patterns or swirls and printed onto the surface of the fabric. There will be a maximum of 6 students, minimum of 3 with several marbling baths available. Future classes will be offered for more advanced techniques.
